Maxi Huges impresses again with points win over Viktor Kotochigov on MTK Global's Rotunda Rumble IV

Maxi Huges remains on-form to bag himself the WBC international lightweight title against Kazakhstan's Viktor Kotochigov.

Kotochigov, who was 12-0 going into the fight, made it a competitive contest but found the more experienced Hughes to be just a step too far at this point in his pro career.

Hughes had Kotochigov down in the third with a beautifully timed left hand and may well have ended things right there had the referee not bizarrely jumped between the two just as Kotochigov looked ready to go again.

To Kotochigov's credit, he recovered well in the fourth and gave everything he had to take Hughes the distance.

After ten rounds the judges' decision was unanimous, scoring it 96-93, 97-92, 95-94 in favour of Hughes.

The win comes just two months after Hughes put in one the performance of his career to upset Ireland's Jono Carroll - a man expected to go on to a world title shot after dealing with Hughes.

Hughes' record now stands at 22 wins, 5 losses and 2 draws, with 3 wins from his last 3 fights.

Undoubtedly in the form of his life, Hughes will look to keep the momentum going into next year, and with a belt now to his name, he'll be well placed to seek out some high profile fights in the lightweight division.
