Luke Campbell vs Ryan Garcia fight date announced

The highly anticipated lightweight match-up between Luke Campbell and Ryan Garcia is set to take place on Saturday 5 December.

After months of waiting, DAZN has finally announced a date for the lightweight WBC interim title match-up between Luke Campbell and Ryan Garcia.

The fight will take place in the US, with a venue still to be announced. It isn't clear yet whether fans will be in attendance.

Garcia, with his slick skills, heavy hands, and massive online following, is quickly becoming one of boxing's biggest stars. The young American boasts a 20 fight winning record with two first-round KO's from his last two matches. Campbell, however, represents a significant step up in class.

After taking home gold at the 2012 Olympics, Campbell has gone on to share the ring with the very best in the pro-game, and while coming up short in both of his world title bids, the level of competition tells us everything we need to know about the man from Hull.

In going the distance with the likes of Jorge Linares and Vasyl Lomachenko, Campbell proved he belongs at world-level, and he believes the best is still to come.

The winner will set himself up as mandatory challenger for the WBC belt currently held by Devin Haney. Haney defends his title on 7 November against Yuriorkis Gamboa at the Hard Rock Live, Hollywood, U.S.
